The Canadian Rockies

Regine has put Banff National Park on our to-do list for a while now. So we finally decided on visiting Banff as well as Jasper National Park this September. Banff and Jasper is probably one of the prettiest places that I’ve visited. Here are some of my favorite images from our trip.

Moraine Lake is my favorite place out of the trip.

Emerald Lake. The water temp is about 34f. A bunch of European tourists were bridge diving. Very brave.

Oregon Coast

We’ve always heard how pretty the Oregon coast is, so we decided to take a trip along the Oregon coast and check out the scenery for ourselves. I have to say though, even though we check the weather before we left, and we were fully aware that the temperature would be in the 50′s, the sensation of going from full blown Houston summer to icy cold coastal weather is just weird. So was the Oregon coast as beautiful as everyone said it is? Take a look and decide for yourself~

This is our first view of Cannon Beach

This beach is HUGE!

Seems like everyone has a dog, and the dogs don’t mind the cold at all!

The weather wasn’t really cooperating at Cannon Beach, so we decided to start heading south along the famous HWY 101. As we were passing by this busy little town, we saw a whale watching sign. Since we have no itinerary for this trip, we were on a whale watching boat heading out to sea 10 minutes later.

Everyone was straining to spot the tell tale signs of whale water sprout, so was this dog!

Well, I only caught an all too brief glance at a whale before the cruise time was up. We come to find out that we actually stopped by at Depoe Bay, known as one of the smallest fishing ports in the world. If anyone has see the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” staring Jack Nicholson, this is the bay where the “Cuckoo’s” escaped and took a fishing boat out from.

After the whale watch we drove farther south, and by night fall we were rewarded with a very freaky/sinister view

Since Seattle is so close, we couldn’t resist taking a quick detour.

I wanted one more shot at the Oregon Coast, so we headed back to Cannon Beach. Good thing we did too. The skies cooperated a bit more, and we were rewarded with a great view.

Goodbye Oregon~

Ting + Luke | Wedding

This is a very special entry for me. My little sister is getting married! Ting and Luke met while they were attending UT Austin. After graduating, Luke went on to the PhD program at University of Wisconsin. My sister moved there a year later. Since both sides of our families are scattered across the world, my sister decided to get married at Bellagio in Las Vegas. It’s an easy destination to get to, especially considering a lot of my family members are coming from Taiwan (Although, I think the bitter cold November weather in Wisconsin might have influenced my sister’s decision a bit).

Welcome to Las Vegas!

Luke’s comment after getting the marriage was, “it’s all so… casual”

The ceremony was held by the lake of Bellagio

My sister picked up this cake topper in Taiwan

They had a top floor room with an awesome view to the strip!

Good bye Las Vegas
